Project “Junge Deutsche Philharmonie”
The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie brings together the best students from German-speaking music academies in an orchestra of the highest artistic standards. In addition to the symphonic repertoire, the ensemble also focuses on performing contemporary and early music. Its organisational structure reflects democratic principles and the musicians themselves participate in its governance bodies. Through board-level activities, programme planning, horizon-expanding workshops or projects promoting greater music appreciation, the orchestra offers its members qualification opportunities above and beyond musical performance. The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie is thus an important link for musicians as they transition from the academies to the world of professional music. Its members, who are between 18 and 28 years of age, come together several times a year for periods of concentrated rehearsal before going on international concert tours.
As a general sponsor, the Gemeinnützige Stiftung der Deutschen Beteiligungs AG provided support for the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie in October 2014 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the orchestra’s founding.
