To mark the 50th anniversary of Deutsche Beteiligungs AG in 2015, the Gemeinnützige Stiftung der Deutschen Beteiligungs AG made a one-time donation in support of “Die Arche” in Frankfurt am Main.
Child poverty has become a social problem of increasing importance, one that strongly limits educational opportunities and young people’s future prospects. In a project entitled “Making children strong”, the Arche has set out to counter this trend. A healthy breakfast and lunch, caring assistance, homework tutoring and numerous recreational activities are the pillars of its programme for children. Individual educational assistance, holiday workshops, excursions and a host of creative and sports activities round out the programme.
Giving youngsters the attention and emotional security they need, the Arche helps build the self-esteem many children lack. Children need self-esteem if they are to shape their own future – the only way they will be able to become full-fledged members of society.
Currently, there are three Arches in socially deprived areas in Frankfurt helping some 340 children. They are financed exclusively by sponsorships and donations.
